A little about the artist…

Encouraged by an equally artistic mother, Zara Edwards began painting at a very young age.

Inspired by her bi-cultural background, a mixture of British and Spanish parents, it is this rich, contrasting and diverse merging of cultures and life experiences that fuels her creative process.
Motivated to satisfy a need for visual and aesthetic stimulation, her depictions are vivid,
colorful and complex compositions. Her art conveys decorative and playful metaphors centered around the inner exploration of emotions, desires, basic human needs and the urban stages in which such sentiments typically occur.

An American for over ten years, living in the South has in itself added a further source of inspiration. Whether it is mundane subject matters, objects extracted from daily life or more profound themes, Zara's work connects her intimately with each piece, enabling her to share a part of her unique vision with others.

"It does not matter if someone completely understands what lies behind one of my images, I realize that is not always possible.

What I am most interested in is how they feel towards it. By providing a tangible reflection of the ideas and emotions I have, I hope to share them for a brief moment with the observer, realizing that simultaneously they are creating their own set of impressions.

That is the amazing thing about this artistic endeavor, for we all can look at the same thing, yet see and capture something completely different that only applies to us."
